Lobuche East Peak Climbing Itinerary

There are two main summits one is Labuche East Peak and Lobuche West. A permit to climb the mountain is required from the National Mountaineering Association (NMA) of Nepal, which classifies Lobuche East (6,119m) as a trekking peak, and Lobuche West (6,145m) as an expedition peak.

  • Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft)
    we will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to hotel. One of our Trekking Plus representative will welcomes you as you land in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
  • Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek
    Full day sightseeing around kathmandu valley - Temples, stupas and Durbar Squares in Kathmandu valley which are listed under the UNESCO world heritage sites. You will spend the day visiting places like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. Later, you will meet your climbing team and prepare for the trek. Overnight at hotel.
  • Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2,800m/9,184ft) then trek to Phakding (2,652m/8,700ft): 40 min flight, trek about 3-4 hours
    You fly above the high hills and mountains on your 40-minute flight to Lukla. After reaching Lukla, you will trek for about four hours till you reach Phakding. The trek to Phakding provides green landscape contrasted with the snowy peak of Kusum Kangaru (6367m) on the backdrop, giving you a glimpse of what the next few weeks are going to be like. Overnight at the tea house.
  • Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft): 5-6 hours
    Today you will head to Namche Bazaar, also known as the Hub of Khumbu region or also we call Everest region. You will pass through rhododendron and magnolia forests while walking alongside the Dudh Koshi River. You will also be passing through different waterfalls and breathtaking suspension bridges along the way. Upon reaching Namche, you will be greeted by the gorgeous view of Everest (8848m) and the adjacent peaks. Overnight in Namche.
  • Day 05: Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,283 ft) - Acclimatization Day
    Today you will explore the beautiful Sherpa town of Namche and get acquainted with the Sherpa culture, tradition, and lifestyle. You can visit the Sherpa Museum where the traditional way of living of the Sherpas can be observed or you can spend your time exploring the bustling market of Namche and interacting with the locals. Alternatively, you can hike up to Hotel Everest View (3962m) for a stunning panorama of Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8414m), Cho Oyu (8188m), and many others. Overnight in Namche.
  • Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Dole (4,110m/ 13,152ft): 5-6 hours
    As you head to Dhole from Namche Bazaar, you will pass through beautiful forests of rhododendron and pine. You will ascend on a winding trail from Namche through many villages and Mani walls. After reaching Phortse Thanga, you will make a steep ascent alongside the gorge of Dudh Koshi River to reach Dhole. Overnight in Dhole.
  • Day 07: Dole to Machhermo (4,470m/ 14,663ft): 4-5 hours
    Continuing on the uphill trail alongside Dudh Koshi River, you will leave Dhole to reach Machhermo. In order to reach Machhermo, you will follow steep trails ascending through sparsely vegetated and sparsely populated areas. Different pastures with many kinds of grass and bushes of junipers can be seen on the trail to Machhermo. Overnight in Machhermo.
  • Day 08: Machhermo to Gokyo (4800 m/15,744 ft): 4-5 hours
    Trekking for about 4 hours leads you to the stunning valley of Gokyo. In order to get to the excellent valley of Gokyo and relish the beauty of its deep blue lakes, you will need to climb over the ridges until you reach the end point of Ngozumpa Glacier Finally, you will climb on the terminal moraine of Ngozumpa Glacier, and be passing by two Gokyo lakes, you will arrive at the third lake and reach Gokyo village. Overnight in Gokyo.
  • Day 09: Acclimatization Day in Gokyo Valley: Hike to Gokyo Ri (5,330 m/17,483 ft)
    For a better view of the Gokyo valley and its tranquil lakes, you will climb up to Gokyo Ri (5360m). From the top of Gokyo Ri, you will get an unreal view of the high Himalayas, including Cho Oyu (8188m), Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8414m), and many others along with a view of the massive Ngozumpa Glacier. Later, you will hike back to Gokyo village and explore the quaint village or may be spending some time around the turquoise Gokyo Lake. Overnight in Gokyo.
  • Day 10: Gokyo to Thaknak (4750 m/15,580 ft): 5-6 hours
    Leaving the enchanting Gokyo valley behind, you will head towards Thangnak today. The trek can be a little challenging as you will need to walk through Ngozumpa Glacier to until you reach Dragnag. Climb down the glacier slowly and carefully. From Dragnag, ascend on the dry and rocky terrain to reach Thangnak. Enjoy the amazing 360 degree view of the mountains from Thangnak. Overnight in Thangnak.
  • Day 11: Trek to Gorekshep Altitude: 5,160m/16,929ft Distance of walking:5-6 hours walk
    From Dzongla, you first descend to Dughla via the frozen lake, Chola Tsho. You then climb past a line of tombstones established in the memory of late Sherpas. Afterward, walking alongside Khumbu Glacier on a moraine trail, you reach Gorakshep via Lobuche. You will get a stunning view of the Mahalangur Himalayan Range and many glaciers from Gorakshep. Overnight in Gorakshep.
  • Day 12: Everest Base Camp & Explore its wonderful surrounding Glacier. O/N at Gorekshep. Altitude: 5364m/17,593ft Distance of walking: 2-3 hours walk
    Today will be your day trip to Everest Base Camp. After 3 hours of walking through the moraines being surrounded by massive glaciers, you will reach the base camp. Standing on the base of the highest peak in the world, you will get a mind-blowing view of Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8414m), Nuptse (7861m), Khumbutse (6665m), Lingtren (6479m), and Pumori (7165m), and so on. Later, descend to Gorakshep for the overnight stay.
  • Day 13: Gorekshep- Kalapathar- Lobuche Altitude: At Kalapathar 5545m/ 18187ft & Lobuche at 4910m/16104ft Distance of walking: 5 to 6 hours walk
    You will start the day early to watch the stunning sunrise over the mighty Everest (8848m) and the adjacent mountains from Kala Patthar vantage point. Kala Patthar is considered as the best viewpoint to observe the wide range of Mount Everest (8848m). After spending some quality time in Kala Patthar, you descend to Lobuche via Gorakshep. Overnight in Gorakshep.
  • Day 14: Lobuche- Lobuche East Base Camp. Altitude: (4865m/15,957 ft) Distance of walking: 3 to 4 hours walk
    The trail to Lobuche Base Camp from Lobuche is filled with many ups and downs through a moraine path. With an unobstructed view of Lobuche East (6119m), you will ascend alongside Lobuche Glacier to reach Lobuche East Base Camp. Overnight at base camp.
  • Day 15: Lobuche Base Camp- Lobuche High Camp Altitude: (5,600m/18,368 ft) Distance of walking: 4 – 5 hours walk
    Today you will start early for Lobuche High Camp as the climb is somewhat tough. You will continue climbing alongside Lobuche Glacier on a rocky trail to reach Lobuche High Camp. You can practice the climbing techniques and the use of different gears at the High Camp. Overnight in High Camp.
  • Day 16: Summit Day - Lobuche East (6119m/20,070 ft) Summit & back to Base Camp Altitude: (6119m/20,070 ft) Distance of walking: 7 to 9 hours
    With weather favoring your side, you will climb to the peak of Lobuche East (6119m) today. You will start the climb before dawn and ascend through the ridges on the mountain towards its summit. Follow your climbing guide’s instructions diligently to avoid any mishap. From the top of the peak, you will get a surreal view of the Mahalangur Himalayan Range to fill up the skyline of Khumbu. After the successful summit, you will descend to Lobuche East Base Camp for the night.
  • Day 17: Lobuche Base Camp to Pangboche Altitude: (3930m/12900 ft) Distance of walking: 5 to 6 hours
    After the summit of Lobuche Peak (6119m), you will trek to the village of Pangboche via Dughla, Pheriche, Somare, and several other small Sherpa villages. Pangboche, too, is a small Sherpa village with its distinct culture and lifestyle. In the evening, you can visit the whitewashed Pangboche Monastery with the gorgeous peak of Ama Dablam (6856m) on its backdrop. Overnight in Pangboche.
  • Day 18: Pangboche- Namche Altitude: (3440m/11283ft) Distance of walking: 5 to 6 hours
    You start descending to Namche Bazaar which will be your point of stay for the night. The mighty mountain this time becomes smaller with your every stride as you head back to Namche Bazaar. Again you will reach the Gateway to Everest, but this time you will not enter rather exit the Gateway. Overnight in Namche.
  • Day 19: Namche Bazaar – Phakding- Lukla Altitude: 2,800m/9,184ft Distance of walking: 12-16 km- 6 to 7 hours
    You will head back to the airstrips of Lukla via Phakding. The trail to Lukla is full of greenery. You will get to witness various streams and suspension bridges on your way. Not limited to that, you get to enjoy the scenery of the mountains once again as you descend to Lukla. Overnight in Lukla.
  • Day 20: Lukla – Kathmandu Altitude: 1350m/4428ft 35minute Trans Himalayan flight
    You will get to enjoy the 40-minute flight above the mountains and the hills once again on your journey from Lukla to Kathmandu. This day will be your free day and probably your final day in Nepal. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
  • Day 21: Final departure
    You will be escorted back to the airport for your further departures.
