About Nagarkot Day hiking

Nagarkot Day Hiking Tour start from kathmandu. Its about 32 km north east from kathmandu which is the most popular tourist destinations for Mountain Viewpoint, and sunrise close from kathmandu. Nagarkot is located at an altitude of 2100m from sea level. Mt. Everest and other mountain views can be seen in a clear day from Nagarkot. Nagarkot day hiking is for those who have only short time in Nepal and still like to experience short hiking in Nepal. The hiking trails of Nagarkot day hiking passes through the rural settlement, farm land, jungle and some ethinic culture and lifestyle around countryside. The trail to Nagarkot Day Hiking passes through the rural Nepalese villages, local cultural people, forest and some religious spots. You may encounter local culture and lifstyle .

We start early in the morning from kathmandu is better to see the sunrise and Himalayan view for the day trip to Nagarkot. If you are going to stay overnight in Nagarkot than you can start after noon from kathmandu. Trekking Plus offer three different options for Day Hiking to Nagarkot.

Option 1. Itinerary 

  • Pick up from your hotel around 4:30 am early in the morning and drive 1:30 hour to Nagarkot 
  • Enjoy sunrise and Himalayan view.
  • Sunny breakfast is served and hike to Changunarayan. Our hiking guide escorted you for day hike about 4 hours to Telkot or Changunarayan. 
  • We serve you a lunch in Changunarayan. After lunch, we drive back to Kathmandu.

Option 2. Itinerary

  • We pick you up from your hotel around  4:30 am and drive 1:30 hour to Nagarkot 
  • Enjoy sunrise and Himalayan view.
  • Sunny breakfast is served and hike to from Nagarkot and start to hike 5-6 hrs to Dhulikhel.
  • Enjoy late lunch in Dhulikhel and drive back to Kathmandu around 5 PM.

Option 3. Itinerary

  • 07:30 AM breakfast and get ready for your day hike. Guide will pick you up from the hotel and drive for an hour or more to Sankhu.
  • We start our hike towards Nagarkot from Sankhu village. The hike is a gradual uphill walk past forests, terraced rice fields and villages and local lifestyle.
  • Stop for drinks break in Kattike and lunch will be served when we reach at Nagarkot.
  • Around 06:00 PM, watch sunset and drive back to Kathmandu.

Difficulty Level - Moderate

Nagarkot Day Hiking is difficult to navigate without an offline map. Google does not have a lot of the routes listed. If you have an offline map, it should be easy to navigate. Physically, this is not a very difficult day hiking. You will go down some steep descents, so trekking poles are recommended to take pressure off your knees. This is a good hiking for beginners and should be easy as long as you are in decent shape.

Meals

Trekking Plus serves you verities of wonderful Nepalese and Continental food during day hiking. We serve you local cuisines for breakfast and lunch which is included in our package cost. Trekking Plus guide will suggest you a delicious, hygienic with special food during your trip. Normally it takes few days’ hard work to local porters and caravans to bring food to mountains. We usually have breakfast at hotel in Nagarko and lunch will be served on the way to Dhulikhel. 

Drinking water

We will get mineral water and boiled water along the trekking routes which is also an additional cost. We discourage not to buy Mineral bottle water but use boiled water from the local lodges and put water purify tablets. Plastic bottles are difficult to dispose off and have become an environmental problem in mountains.

What to take

Trekking Plus would suggest you to pack as lightly as possible when you are on mountain. We provide one porter between two trekkers to carry your trekking gears. You will be carried your valuable things in a day pack by your own and your other bags will be carried by the porter in a duffel bag which we provided.  Porter carries about 25 KG from 2 trekkers. You can store you’re your luggage which you are not going to use it on trek can leave in Kathmandu Hotel which is free of cost.

Trekking Plus field crews normal first aid kits on all of our tours, which is readily available for both customers and staff but we will recommend you to bring first aid kits yourself from your country because Nepalese medicine some time it does not work properly.
