Champadevi Day Hiking is a magnificent high hill located south of Kathmandu Valley, at an elevation of 2,285 meters, for a short and enjoyable hike to observe the Kathmandu Valley and the beautiful Himalayan range to the north (Manasule Himalayas Range, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gaurishanker, and even Mt. Everest on a clear day).
Champadevi Day Hiking begins with a one-hour drive to Pharping (19 km) on the way to Dakshinkali Temple (a temple dedicated to the goddess Kali). After leaving the Pharping village, the trail leads us through the pine forest to the summit.Enjoy the superb view of the central and western Himalayan ranges, including Langtang, Gauri Shanker, Jugal, Dorge Lakpa, and many others. Apart from that, you get the chance to admire the bustling Kathmandu valley and its dense settlement. A bird's-eye view of the valley, the Bagmati River, the monkey temple, Patan Durbar Square, Bungamati, and Khokana can be seen from the route.
After a 1:00-hour hike, you will arrive at a small, tiny Bosan village (Pass). The houses are traditional and old, and the Tamang people are cultural. You will pass through a small gompa surrounded by prayer flags. After about 1:30 hours of walking, you will have a better view.Once you arrive at the top, there is a small shrine where Hindu and Buddhist people visit at different times of the year. During Nepalese New Year, locals from Kirtipur and Kathmandu flock to this hill and the Champadevi temple. This is a pure nature hike with fresh air and cultural people along the way. The mountain views from Champadevi Hill are much wider and more beautiful compared to Nagarkot. Once you arrive at the top, we can enjoy the view, have some packed lunch, and then hike down to Kritipur, where our car will be waiting to take us back to our hotel.
