Ghorepani Poonhill trek is perfect for those with limited time but reasonable fitness. It showcases stunning mountain views, charming Gurung villages, and a lush rhododendron forest.

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a small circuit trail in the lower part of the Annapurna region. The prime destination of this trip is the breathtaking viewing point of Poon Hill. It offers a majestic sunrise over the magnificent snow-capped mountains, turning from grey to pink to brilliant white. This trek is relatively easy and can be done year-round, with autumn and spring being the most impressive seasons. It's suitable for all types of trekkers who want to experience a short trek in the Himalayas and learn about the culture.

Our trek starts from Nayapul, a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Pokhara. The trail passes through terraced rice fields, steep climbs up to Ulleri, a panoramic journey through the rhododendron forest, and an opportunity to witness the sunrise view from Poon Hill. Along the way, you'll experience the lush forests of rhododendron and oak, beautiful settlements of Gurung and Magar people, waterfalls, terraced rice fields, and learn about local culture and lifestyles.

Poon Hill is located at an altitude of 3210m, offering a stunning view of the mountains, such as Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna (8,091m), Fishtail (6,997m), Annapurna South, Himchuli, and other neighboring peaks. The Ghangruk village is also a part of this trek, which is the habitation of Gurung people, known as Gurkhas, with a glorious history created in the Second World War. The village is surrounded by terraced farmlands, and the ethnic groups have distinct language, costumes, rituals, and lifestyles, making it a unique cultural experience.
