How Much Does the Everest Base Camp Trek Cost?

The Everest Base Camp trek will cost depends on how long you will be doing trek. Normally Everest Base Camp 12 days will cost around $1400 per person on full board basis, inclusive of flights, all food, fees, accommodation, support crew and transportation. What is the best time to trek to Everest Base Camp?

The best time to trek to Everest Base Camp is spring i.e. (from March to May) or during autumn i.e. (September to December) the temperature in these seasons guarantees promising and breathtaking views. However temperature reaches below 0 in December yet we can enjoy the mesmerizing views. But you need to be prepared with the proper clothing for some potentiality of the very low temperatures. October is also traditionally best time for trekking as the temperature is moderate and offers us with the best views.

How Fit Do I Need to Be to Do the Everest Base Camp Trek?

If you are reasonably fit, have some experience of trekking in mountains or simply have done multiple days hiking and involve basic conditions, we can say you are fit enough to get to Everest Base Camp.  Although Everest Base Camp Trek duration is about 12 days manage them comfortably, provided you are travelling at your own pace, a reasonable level of fitness is required.

Is there Mobile Signal on the Everest Base Camp Trek?

Everest Base Camp route now has decent network ( Ncell or NTC) coverage. You can buy a local Ncell SIM or NTC sim card with 4gb of data in Kathmandu before you head off on your trek.

Preparation

How Should I Prepare for the Everest Base Camp Trek?

You have to physically and mentally prepare for trek to Everest Base Camp. As our Trek start at Lukla, 2,860m above sea level and we reach over 5,160m above sea level that means we have to struggle going ups and down steep slopes and steps, and so the best preparation is to go up and down lots and lots of stairs with the weight that you’ll be carrying when you are on trek so it would be recommended prepare physically by doing some higher altitude trekking experience before committing to Everest Base Camp rest we will be assist you for any kind of assistance.

What will be the average size of the groups trekking to Everest Base camp?

We normally organize trekking for  min 1 person to 12 people in a group. We can also customize the size of the people according to your preferences and interest. Please do let us know in advance for your trek style and your accommodation either even you are doing trek with group. We are happy to organize accommodation type and sort as per your request.

What accommodation will you provide during the trek?

During Everest Base Camp, we will be staying in Mountain lodges and guest houses. We Our accommodation will be in twin share basis and most of the teahouses may have shared washrooms. If you want single supplement then you will be charged extra fee. Trekking Plus Team will try his best to serve you with best available facilities in mountain.

What are the meals included during the trek?

All meals are provided during the trek such as breakfast, Lunch and dinner with tea coffee. Breakfast and Dinner will serve in the same lodge where as lunch will be serve in a different lodge in between two camps. We will also provide tea,  coffees or hot lemon honey tea when we have break. We can get variety of Nepali and continental dishes in lower elevations but we may not be able to get continental dishes is higher elevations so we will be served with authentic Nepali cuisines.

Who will carry my stuffs?

If you like to carry your stuffs during your trek or would like to hire porter its depends on you but if you are going with us than we provide porter to carry your stuffs. Trekking Plus porter will carry all your stuffs during Everest Base Camp Trek who will carry about 20 KG ( 1 porter between two trekkers).

Health and safety?

Should I have travel insurance?

Travel insurance is mandatory to have when you are on any trekking or adventure in mountain. If you you book your trekking with trekking plus than It is compulsory to have travel insurance which you can get in your country. Nepalese Insurance Company doesn’t have travel insurance for foreign people so we recommend you to bring the legal documents with you while coming to Nepal back home. Your travel insurance must cover damage, loss of something, flight delay, helicopter evacuation if in case. Hopefully it wont happy being with trekking plus expert team but we never know.

Do I get to charge my phones and cameras?

In some of the lodges and trekking houses they provide you the facility to charge your phones and cameras by taking a very small amount of charging fee. But some of the areas might have electricity problems so, we suggest you to bring extra batteries.

Is there any age limit to trek to Everest Base Camp?

There isn’t any age limit to trek to Everest Base Camp. If your physical condition is good and if you have ability to walk for few hours for several days then you can easily trek to Everest Base Camp. It is better if you start preparing for the trek few months earlier by doing some exercises  like running, skipping, jogging etc and also by taking some healthy and energy boosting diets. We also suggest you to consult to your doctor once before the trek.

Can Lukla Flight get cancelled or delayed?

The weather forecast of Lukla is beyond prediction.  Thus, due to bad weather flight might be delayed for several days sometimes. If it disturbs your trip at the beginning then you are free to choose any other alternative trips. We will look for the best alternative for you taking into considerations of the whole group if it occurs during the trip.

Can I get a hot shower along the trek?

There are shower facilities in guest houses and lodges.  They have gas and solar heating systems. But in some of the villages they use fire wood to boil waters and provide buckets as shower facilities.

Do I Need a Guide, a Porter, a Porter-Guide or No Guide?

It is not compulsory to have a guide, a porter or a porter guide but if you have support member with you than the trip is definitely best enjoyed with someone who speaks Nepali and understands the local culture. If  you are not carrying much than than you travel with a guide or porter-guide which would be okay. Also the field crew will help to rescue you if you fall sick or injured during the trek.

A porter’s role is to carry your person belonging. One porter between two trekkers who carry max 25 kg but they may not speak any English.

A porter-guide will speak some English, carry loads and do some basic guiding such as showing the trekking trails, explaining the basics of a monastery or a ceremony, helping arrange accommodation and serve you meals at a lodge. You can’t expect an in-depth history of a specific spot from Porte Guide

Guide or Leader will not carry anything if you are exhausted or need help than you are there to help you out), but will look after every aspect of your trip, from arranging rooms, meals, flights, or camping gear and they are well known with trekking trails and other info such as history of that monastery, culture and lifestyle in mountain.  

Is tipping compulsory?

Tipping is a way of showing gratitude and appreciation. Though it is not compulsory in Nepal. Your small appreciation to our guides, porters, drivers and other staffs will give some positive vibes towards their work.

 Are ATM machines available during the trek?

ATM machines are available in Lukla and Namche Bazaar. But we suggest you to carry some amount of cash with you because sometimes the machines might be out of service and the service charge will be slightly higher if you are paying by card at lodges.

 What are the documents and paper required while trekking to Everest Base camp?

To make all applicable trekking permit TIMS (trekking information management system) and National Parek, make sure that you have PP size picture and passport copy. Please bring travel insurance with you.
