Gosaikunda Helambhu Trekking Itinerary

Gosainkund Helambu Trekking offers spectacular views of the high Himalaya that stretch for a distance of 150km. we can see the snow covered giant of Langtang Lirung (7227m), and more distant Shisha Pangma (8046m) in Tibet and Ganesh Himal in the northwest. Bamboo, rhododendron and pine forests abound and host a wide variety of bird life and animals including shy red pandas. Displays of flowers are at their best during the summer season, although epiphytic orchards and other flowers bloom at different times. Lauribinayak a fabulous view point offer tremendous view of sunset, sunrise and 360 degree view of high mountains. The holy Gosainkund lakes, waterfalls and turbulent rivers add to the enjoyment of this Langtang Gosaikunda trek.

We start our trek from kathmandu with bus ride over the middle hill ridges to the important Trisuli Nadi, and then follows it upstream to Dhunche; the start of the trek. On the up-route we visit a traditional cheese factory: the produce manufactured by hand. The second afternoon, at Shin Gompa, offers your first full views of the towering, snow-covered Ganesh Himal (7600m) and the Langtang Himal. we reach the beautiful and holy Gosainkund Lakes, revered by both Buddhists and Hindus. Beyond the Laurebina La (4610m), the altitude gradually drops as you descend through terraced rice paddies and several villages with splendid monasteries. Good boots, warm/waterproof clothing, a good sleeping bag, day pack camera sunscreen and hat are essential items. Our Gosaikund Helambu trekking package includes transport, local porters, meals, tea house accommodation, drinking water and showers. Additional beverages and snacks will be for your account. Spring (March - May) and autumn (September -November) are the best months to trek, but we offer this Gosaikunda trek in all four seasons.

  • Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
    Upon arrive at airport, Durga will personally receive you and transfer you to the Hotel. Hotel check-in and go for exploring local market around Ason / Durbar square. Evening we will enjoy authentic Nepali dinner with cultural show.

  • Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing and trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)
  • Day 03: Kathmandu – Dhunche (1,950m /6,435ft) 7-8 hrs. drive
    After breakfast at hotel, we will head north out of Kathmandu valley, driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Dhunche village. The first part of your drive up to Trishuli Bazaar is quite smooth and relaxing with beautiful landscapes. The path now moves along a gravel road. Stay overnight at lodge in Dhunche village. We will stop for lunch on the way and dinner at lodge.

  • Day 04: Dhunche to Shin Gompa (3,330 m /10,925 ft.) 4-5 hrs
    After breakfast we our trail goes ascending gradually to GhatteKhola (stream). After crossing a suspension bridge over this stream, we continue our trek steeply up and reach Sing Gompa after crossing pine, silver oak and rhododendron forests. Overnight at lodge.ThuloSyabru- Shin gomba: 3-5 hours.

  • Day 05: Shin Gompa- Laurebina Yak (3,950m /13,035ft) 3-4 hrs
    We ascend smoothly through the rhododendron forest offering free view of Ganesh Himal range and Lantang ranges including tranquility view of Langtang valley. The area in-between Shing gomba to Laurebina Yak is a sanctuary for the red panda, an endangered species that the Nepalese call cat bear. We leave tree lines behind reaching after perfect tea break Cholang Pati (3,550m /11,715ft) Trail continues to climb to Laurebina Yak with the wide range breathtaking view of Manaslu(8,156m) range, Langtang and Tibetan range mountain. It’s just perfect place to acclimatize for AMS, evening sunset and sunrise. Overnight in Laurebina lodge.
  • Day 06: Trek to Gosainkund Lake (4,380m /14,454ft) 3-4 hrs
    After morning tranquility photo shooting, we climb to a pass and then continues on an expected trail through the small ridge, with view of Sarswati Kund (Sarswati Lake. 4100m, 13530ft) Bhairav Kund and finally emerge Goidanda Kund overnight by the lakeside. Afternoon explore vicinity of Gosiakund Lake. Overnight in Gosaikunda at Lodge
  • Day 07: Trek from Gosainkund Lake to Gopte (3440m /11,286ft) 7-8 hrs
    After breakfast, our trail climbs from the Gosaikund Lake to four more lakes en-route to Laurebina La (4610m /15213 ft) then drop down to Phedi. Nearby is the site of Thai International Airbus crash site into a mountain in 1992. Continue walking over side valley up and down crossing through rhododendron and pine trees, approach you to Ghopte. Overnight in Ghopte at Lodge.
  • Day 08: Gopte- Tharepati (3,640m /12,012ft) 2-3 hrs
    Today is short walk. Trail descend down to the steam and moderate flat then rise up to barren hill Tharepari. It’s a view point to north east range of Himalaya such as Dorje Lakpa, Jugal himal range, Gauri Shankar and Tibetan range mountain including Shisa Pangma (8,012m) can be seen from Tharepati in the clear morning. Overnight in Tharepati at Lodge
  • Day 09: Tharepati to Kutumsang (2,450 m /8,085ft) 4- 5 hrs
    Our trail for today descends down through the dense forest of rhododendron, oak and pines to Mangen goth. Walk through the ridge and steeply down to big village. Tharepati, the trail moves ascending through forest of rhododendron, oak and bamboo with other natural vegetation. From Tharepati the trail gradually descends through pine and rhododendron forest with good views down into the Helambu valley and across to Jugal Himal and Numbur in the Solu Khumbu. Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 10: Trek from Kutumsang to Chisopani (2,160m /7,125ft) takes -about 6 hours.
    From Kutumsang, you climb a pass at 2620m, before descending to the Tamang village of Gul Bhanjyang. Beyond Gul Bhanjyang, your trek ascends to a ridge with splendid views, stretching from the Annapurnas and Manaslu in the west to Numbur in the east. Now you descend to PatiBhanjyang, a large Tamang village with a few shops and a police check post. From here it is almost two hours climb to Chisopani. Stay overnight at lodge.

  • Day 11: Trek to Sundarijal, Short drive to Kathmandu (1,300m /4,264ft) 4-5 hrs trek, 1 hr. drive
    After breakfast, we off from Chisopani, the trail passes through meadows and cultivated fields and then climbs through oak and rhododendron forest to BurlangBhanjyang. From here there are magnificent views, from Annapurna in the west to Ganesh Himal and Numbur in the east. This ridge marks the northern rim of the Kathmandu valley. You now begin descending steeply through dense forest of oak, pine and rhododendron to cross a dam and then follow us to Sundarijal where we get our transportation to back Kathmandu.   • Day 12: Final Departure from Nepal.
    Morning, you will be free. Afternoon we will drop you to theKathmandu International Airport for the departure flight to home.
