Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake Itinerary

Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho is one of the most popular trekking in Annapurna Region. Tilicho Lake collects the glacial melt of the full northern slopes of Annapurna and Thorong Peak, which is claimed to be the highest lake in the world. In Hindu pilgrims from around the world gathered to the lake convinced it is a holy spot mentioned in the Ramayana – a holy book of the Hindus about this lake. Lake is a lake located in the Manang district of Nepal, situated at an altitude of 4,919 metres (16,138 ft) in the Annapurna range of the Himalayas and is known as the highest lake in the world.

Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake presents one of the most fascinating trekking journeys in the region. We start from kathmandu to Chame via Bensishar and the trek proceeds to the Thorong La pass via Manang. We have modified this route as it is basically the same as Annapurna Circuit, from Manang instead of taking the valley north to Tanki Manang and Yak Kharka this route goes to the main valley to the west passes through the Khangsar Village (The Last Village of Nepal) and trek up to Tilicho lake, then we trek back to Yak Kharka then up to pass of Thorong La at elevation of 5416 m. From the pass of Thorong La, the Tilicho Lake trekking lead down to Muktinath then to Jomsom. We take a jeep ride to Tatopani where we experience nature hot spring. We trek from Tatopani to Gorepani route and end our trek in Nayapul.

  • Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (760 m/ 2492 ft) and drive to Chamche (1430 m/4692 ft ) about 9 hrs drive.
    Early morning we drive from Kathmandu to the Besishar about 7 hours. We enjoy with many beautiful villages, farms, flowing rivers and a glimpse of beautiful mountain ranges one the way to Chamche. We can either charter private jeep or take a local bus to Besishar. We change the local bus to Chamche. Overnight at the guest house (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

  • Day 02: Trek from Chamche to Dharapani (1,860m/6,430ft) about 7 - 8 hours walking.
    After breakfast we start our 2nd day of our trek, we cross a suspension bridge and after a steep climb we enter the vicinity of Manang region at the village named tal, here we see several waterfalls forming a river by the sandy beaches. We follow trail through barley, rice and potato fields passing through the village of Kodo which is one of the biggest villages in the Manang valley. We cross a suspension bridge, and after a short climb we reach Dharapani. Overnight at Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

  • Day 03: Trek from Dharapani to Chame (2,610m/8,891ft) about 5 - 6 hours walking.
    Today we follow the trail through forest by a river to reach Chame. It is a district headquarter of Manang district. Well be surrounded by the green forest around us and over us we'll see remarkable views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV (7,525m). We'll also stop by a small hot springs where we can relax for a while. Overnight in Chame(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

  • Day 04: Trek from Chame to Pisang (3,200m/10824ft) walking distance about 5 - 6 hours
    After breakfast we trek to Pisang. We walk through a steep and narrow valley to have our first view of Paungda Danda rock face, a curved rock face rising 1500m from the river. From here, we also see clear views of Annapurna 2 at the south and Pisang Peak at the north east. Next, we descend to the Manang Valley floor.   • Day 05: Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,540m/11,482ft) about 6 - 7 hours walking.
    We trek on the upper trail through upper pisang. we can see the outstanding views of north face Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho and Pisang Peak . As we ascended up we will feel the air turn cold, dry and harsher. The trail goes through Tibetan settlement and and we get a chance to explore Buddhist culture in a short visit to Barge Monastery, largest in Manang.   • Day 06: Acclimatization day in Manang
    Today is the day for Acclimatization. But we pend this day exploring Manang.
    Early morning we hike up to Gangapurna Lake and Base Camp spend the day admiring Annapurna III, Tilicho, Pisang and Chulu Peaks, roam around Manang Village and Monasteries. Afternoon we may visit the Himalayan Rescue Association in Vraga village where we will be briefed about acute Mountain Sickness., its symptoms and preventions.   • Day 07: Manang to Siri Kharka (4060m/13,320ft) about 4-5 hours walking distance
    We trek to Sirikharkha through the upper route which follows a path down down to a river. We cross the river walk through coniferous forests, after 3 hours walking, we arrive Khangsar village. After an hour more of walking we reach Shiri Kharka. Throughout the trek we will have a clear view of Gungang Himal and Mt. Chulu. Overnight in Siri Kharka(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

  • Day 08: Trek from Siri Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp (4150m/13,583ft) about 5-6 hours walking distance.
    Today we walk an easy path that leads through the middle of the landslides area where we can see a mesmerizing view of Tlilicho. We trek up till Tilicho base camp where we can Overnight at Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

  • Day 09: Visit Tilicho Lake (4,920m/16,138 ft) and trek back to Siri Kharka about 5-6 hours walking distance.
    After breakfast, We start the day early, we hike about 4 hours than we reach Tilicho lake, The highest lake in the world also referred as the “the great ice lake” by the leader of the French expedition team .this is a large sparkling lake that lies at the foot of the north face of tilicho peak. After spending some time here we take the same route back to siri kharka. Overnight in Siri Kharka (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

  • Day 10: Trek from Siri kharka to Yak kharka (4060m/13,020ft) walking about 4-5 hours
    We descend to the uninhabited Khangsar village ,pass Tare gumba,a thousand year old monastery then follow a rock wall out of Khangsar to descend a bridge in the Thorong Khola valley. We go across a river ,hike up to a plateau to reach Yakkharka . We can see Annapurna mountains range, other peaks, blue sheep (bharal) and if you are lucky you might spot a snow leopard.   • Day 11: Trek from Yak kharka to Thorang Phedi: (4525m/14501 ft) about 3-4 hours walking distance.
    After breakfast we trek to Thorang Phendi. We walk uphill to with an amazing view of mountains and landscapes. On our way we get the best views of Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak and Mt. Khatungkan. Overnight in Thorang Phedi at guesthouse (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner).

  • Day 12: Thorong Phedi to Thorong La pass (5416 m/17764 ft) to Muktinath (3,800/12,467ft) about 7 - 8 hours
    Today's the most challenging part of the trip and the highest point of the trek. we have to wake up early morning at 3 to complete this challenge. We will see a panorama of majestic Himalayan peaks extending northwards into Tibet,at the back we can see several of the main peaks of Annapurna. We then descend all the way to Muktinath a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists. The Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means "Hundred Waters". We stay overnight at guesthouse (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

  • Day 13: Drive from Muktinath to Tatopani (1,200m/3937 ft) about 7 hours
    We visit Muktinath temple before continuing our journey to Tatopani. Tatopani is famous for natural hot spring; it is place where we can soak in the hot springs. Overnight at guesthouse or tea house . Included Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

  • Day 14: Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,850m/9,350ft) about 7 - 8 hours walk.
    We ascend to Ghorepani through villages of Sikha and Chitre, the villages of ethnic thakali people. We go through a terraced farmland with mountains all around then pass lush forests filled with rhododendron, birch, magnolia we stop at Ghorepani, a beautiful village located at a ridge top. Overnight in Ghorepani (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

  • Day 15: Hike to Poon Hill and Trek to Nayapul then drive to Pokhara about 5-6 hours walk and 1 hour drive.
    Early morning we ascend to poonHill (3,210m) to view sunrise over the whole Annapurna , Dhaulagiri massif including Mt Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) , Mt Manaslu and surrounding rice terrace. After visiting Poonhill, we will trek back to Ghorpenai and start descending all the way to nayapul then drive to pokhara , overnight at Pokhara(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

  • Day 16: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu about 5-6 hours drive.
    After breakfast we drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus. If you want we can arrange flight from pokhara to Kathmandu which will takes about 25 minute (not included in package).
